The Resident Community
Residing at Kadampa Meditation Center Washington is a wonderful way to learn how to apply Buddha’s teachings to our daily life.
Lay and ordained residents live together as a harmonious community in two houses next door to the Temple. Residents have a strong daily meditation practice, study the teachings of Buddha under the guidance of Resident Teacher Gen Kelsang Khedrub within the framework of Teacher Training or Foundation Study Programs, engage in meaningful volunteer work in a variety of areas, and use the teachings to the best of our ability in service to others.
KMC WA offers residence to suitable candidates who have successfully completed an interview and application process on a space-available basis. Applicants must be enrolled in Foundation Program or Teacher Training Program, and must have a strong wish to participate in the daily activities of the Temple such as group pujas and community meals.
All residents are responsible to cover the expense of rent, meals, study program and other fees and to maintain rules and conditions of residency meant to ensure harmony within the community. Residents must attend regular resident meetings and house meetings and are expected to keep the houses tidy through assigned cleaning schedules.
